If you have decided to hire an in-home caregiver for you senior relatives, there are ways to increase your odds at hiring a good one.
1. Evaluate your needs in the areas of health care and household care.
2. Create a JD with clear bullet points (include level of training, experience and skills that you need).
3. Draft a contract, that will specify caregiver’s responsibilities, number of working hours and payment.
4. Find a caregiver (through your friends, neighbors or internet).
5. Screen applicants on the telephone and interview in person those who sound suitable.
6. Check references and don’t forget about a criminal background check.
Good luck!
